Kinkakuji 金閣寺, is actually correctly a part of Rokuonji 鹿苑寺. But nobody knows that and just calls it Kinkaku and remembers the Golden Pavilion. This was my second visit and I couldn’t remember any of the buildings other than the Golden Pavilion! But the grounds are actually pretty big with lots to see.
It was a rainy day, so luckily there were limited tourists. The ones that were there were all Chinese it seemed. Near the main hall there souvenir shops and a place where you can have some matcha and Kinkaku’s signature gold sweet. You can also buy omikuji in different languages from red postbox looking machines.
